Gravel Riding
Wollombi Gravel Underground
Hi All,
Just under two weeks now until our invite-only Wollombi Gravel recon event, AKA Wollombi Gravel Underground. See below for all the details you’ll need.
PS This page sits as a hidden page in the new Wollombi Gravel website, which is live but not publicised yet as it’s still a work in progress. Feel free to have a look and share any feedback you might have but please don’t share it around just yet.
Let's get organised
Wollombi Gravel Underground
Sept 6-8, 2024
Get ready for an unforgettable experience at Wollombi Gravel Underground—a full weekend of exhilarating rides, social dining, local wines, and the tranquil beauty of the Wollombi Valley.
This weekend is all about riding with friends, soaking up nature, indulging in food and wine, live music, and entertainment while previewing routes for future Wollombi Gravel events.
Since this isn’t an official event, there’s no ticket price. However, if you’d like to travel light—just bring your bike and PJs, we can arrange all your meals in one convenient package. See the options below, and let us take care of the rest. Non-riders are also very welcome at all festivities.
Select the package that suits your travel plans. If you’re arriving Friday before dinner and leaving Sunday afternoon, we’ve got you covered for all meals. (Full details when you click through to dining packages).
If you’re not staying for the full weekend but would still like to participate in some of the dining options, just select the appropriate option for you.
Please let me know if you need me to arrange accommodation for you for the weekend. I’d be happy to point you in the right direction or to book it for you.

Day 1
Wollombi Gravel Fest Recon. Starting in Wollombi we’ll ride south along Great North road on paved road. At Murrays Run we’ll turn left and this is where you leave the pavement behind and enjoy the quiet dirt roads. You’ll travel up towards Bucketty through gorgeous paddocks and up a lovely climb. At the top you’ll turn left and head into the Watagans, down Watagan Creek road and finish the first loop at Laguna. At this point you can either do the easy 7km back to Wollombi on the road or turn left and right and head over the hill into Yango Creek road and enjoy a scenic ride home.
